Outline of operations to re-secure a critical Taiwanese airfield from PLA control and restore allied access.

Airfield Re-seizure Operations in Taiwan: some CONOPS

Mission Objective

Restore control of a critical airfield on Taiwan’s west coast after its seizure by PLA forces, enabling allied airlift and joint operations.

Operational Phases

  1. Shape and isolate: Degrade PLA support through cyber, electronic, and precision fires.
  2. Insertion & lodgement: Allied special forces and Taiwanese units secure a foothold on the airfield perimeter at night.
  3. Runway repair: Combat engineers restore runway functionality and emplace air defences to protect the airhead.
  4. Expansion: Follow-on forces reinforce the lodgement and push PLA units out of artillery range.

Mission Engineering Breakdown

  • Insertion assets: Low-signature vertical-lift aircraft capable of evading PLA air defences.
  • Runway repair equipment: Rapid runway repair kits and combat engineering teams.
  • Air defense: Short-range air defence and counter-drone systems to protect the airhead.
  • C4ISR: Secure communications, joint fires coordination, and robust ISR for situational awareness.
  • Logistics: Airborne and maritime logistics to sustain forces under missile threat.
